The study group report, which is over a thousand pages long, was presented to French President Emmanuel Macron on 26 March. The commission, which has been researching this issue for two years, concluded that France "remained blind to the preparation" of the genocide in Rwanda. However, according to historians, "nothing proves" that Paris was "an accomplice" of the genocide.
On Wednesday, April 7, on the 27th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, France opened archives related to this tragic event.

The deaths of the presidents were used by extremists from the Hutu ethnic group as an excuse to seize power in Rwanda and start genocide against the smaller ethnic group of Tutsis and moderate Hutu politicians. From April to June 1994, about 800,000 people were killed - the overwhelming majority of Tutsis, as well as moderate Hutus, Twas and others.
